Sean Kelley being interviewed by Channel 7. Arlington Cemetery Women's Memorial. Arlington, VA. August 2012
I am the curator and main contributing photographer of a traveling 9/11 photo exhibit. The first installment was for the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 @ the Sherwood Center in Fairfax,VA on September2011. The 2nd installment was at the Women's Memorial in Arlington Cemetery on August 2012. The exhibit is Pentagon -based and I decided to put the show together because I felt that the Arlington attack received little coverage compared to NYC. I was at the Pentagon 45 minutes after the plane struck and photographed the Pentagon from approx. 10:50Am until 4:30 Pm , before the Secret Service kicked me out because of no "official " press credentials. A lot of the photographs sat in archival boxes for 10 years before being released to the public for the first exhibit on september 2011. One of the photographs I turned into a poster and named it "Still Standing- Still Free" .(this is also the official name of my 9/11 Exhibit). It is a long shot of the Pentagon 2 days after the attack with the American flag draped over the west wall. The poster is sold locally and partial proceeds go to Marine Corps- Law Enforcement Foundation. The money helps pay for the "Pentagon Children" (141 kids lost parents in the Pentagon attack) to go to college. Laura- I will include a photograph of the poster as well. Photo credit- Lynn Lear.
